Goya dedicated his entire life to art that captured and expressed the realities of his time, including the impact of war, social injustices & inequalities: To me this can be seen as a form of social commentary and a social contribution through his lifelong practice.
Like Goya, I am a profoundly dedicated to the social responsibility of my work & process, since the very early days I have worked to raise awareness of the four corporations that through their deliberate actions have vastly profited by their commodification of water. All the while hiding data from their clients about the viability of recycling and the levels of nano-plastics in each and every product sold. They are Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Nestlé & Unilever.
This profiteering has created a terrible legacy for the environment to bear; from polluted landscapes, rivers and oceans; all the while inflicting Ecocide on society as a whole much like the smoking lobbyists of the 1950´s, all for profit with shareholder values being held above that of their social responsibility.
Here a famous Goya print is reworked, now with the introduction of a coke within the scene. If Francisco De Goya were here today I am certain he would approve.
