Crystal 'Vortex' Table Lamp

This lighting work explores the interaction between material, structure and illumination. Produced through a hybrid process of digital fabrication and hand assembly, each piece retains the visible character of its construction while remaining lightweight, durable and materially efficient.
Fabricated from plant based polylactic acid, a recyclable thermoplastic polyester derived from renewable resources including corn starch and sugar cane. The production process is designed around circular principles with reduced material waste and low energy manufacturing. You can read more here.
Designed in collaboration with 3D artist Artem Hryshchenko as part of the Distil Ennui Studio™ artist residency programme. A royalty from each work sold directly supports participating artists and future research projects within the studio.
Supplied with a 3 metre hessian cord, inline switch and EU plug.

Material character
The visible surface texture and layered structure form part of the final aesthetic language of the work. Rather than concealing the fabrication process, the construction remains intentionally legible, producing subtle optical variations and a distinctive diffusion of light across the surface of the piece.
This approach allows complex forms to remain lightweight and materially efficient while retaining a tactile quality difficult to achieve through conventional manufacturing methods.
‘ Hamilton moves beyond the falsity of icons to propose the need for a spiritual renaissance with nature. ’ Critical text for 'All icons are false' by curator Paul Carey-Kent.
